The client

A Calgary aesthetician building something genuine — and a digital presence that had to match.

Blissful Beauty Studio is founded and operated by Samarna, a lead aesthetician based in Calgary's Hillhurst neighbourhood. The studio specialises in medical-grade treatments: laser hair removal, skin rejuvenation, pigmentation correction, acne management, and professional waxing. Every service is delivered with clinical precision and an attentiveness that keeps clients coming back.

The studio had the quality. It had the reputation. What it didn't have was a website — and the absence of a proper digital presence was the gap between where the business was and where it deserved to be.

The challenge

Medical aesthetics is a trust purchase. The site had to earn it immediately.

People don't book laser treatments on impulse. They research. They compare. They look for signals that tell them the person treating their skin knows what they're doing. A weak or absent digital presence doesn't just fail to convert — it actively loses potential clients to competitors who look the part even if they aren't.

The challenge was dual: design something warm and welcoming enough to feel like a boutique beauty studio, while carrying enough clinical confidence to make medical-grade treatments feel safe and credible. Those two things can work against each other if the design isn't careful. Getting the balance right was the core of the work.

There was also a practical constraint: bookings had to work. The studio runs on appointments. Embedding a booking system that the owner fully controls — without paying commission to a third party on every new client — was a non-negotiable requirement from the start.

The approach

Warm luxury. Clinical confidence. Nothing in between.

The entire site was designed around one idea: you should feel cared for before you ever book an appointment. Every design decision — the colour palette, the typography, the gallery, the service cards — was made in service of that feeling.

  • Brand palette built from the studio itself — Warm Gold (#C4825A), Soft Pink (#F5C6D0), and Teal (#6AAEAE) pulled from the studio's existing visual identity. Teal used sparingly as an accent to avoid visual noise. Cream background (#FDFAF8) keeps everything airy without feeling cold.
  • Editorial typography pairing — Cormorant Garamond for headlines and display text (luxury, editorial, slightly romantic) against Lato for body copy and UI elements (clean, legible, modern). The contrast communicates premium without pretension.
  • Service cards with hover reveal — Five treatment cards that show concise descriptions upfront and reveal detailed breakdowns — session times, what's treated, skin type suitability — on hover. Botanical SVG illustrations are unique per card, floating up as the content fades. No two cards feel the same.
  • Infinite marquee gallery — Real treatment photography loops continuously at a slow, cinematic pace. Photos are staggered in height and vertical offset for an editorial rhythm. Hovering the strip pauses it; hovering individual photos scales them up and slides the caption in from below. Entirely CSS-driven — no JavaScript required for the scroll.
  • Practitioner card — A dedicated about section with a circle headshot, tricolour accent bar, and bio copy. Designed to give the owner a face on the site before a real headshot is available — easily swapped when the photo is ready.
  • Botanical SVG decorations — Unique hand-coded botanical illustrations throughout the hero and service cards. Each one is drawn in SVG with gold and teal strokes, adding an organic softness that stock imagery can't replicate.
  • Square Appointments integration — Inline booking widget embedded via Square's JS embed. The studio owns the account outright — no per-booking commission, full control over services and availability. Fallback CTA buttons handle edge cases where the widget doesn't load.

The entire site is a single HTML file — all CSS and JavaScript inline, no build tools, no framework, no runtime dependencies. It deploys automatically on every push to GitHub via Vercel, and sits behind Cloudflare DNS at the studio's own domain. The simplicity is intentional: it means nothing can go wrong that can't be fixed in minutes.

Alongside the website, Everex handled the full social media setup and ongoing content strategy for Blissful Beauty Studio — establishing the studio across Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok with a cohesive visual direction and a content system built around real results. The goal was simple: every post should end with a tap that opens the booking page.

  • Before & after content — Licensed treatment result imagery sourced directly from the laser equipment provider, repackaged with branded overlays, warm-toned colour grading, and captions that communicate real outcomes. Designed to perform on discovery feeds where visual proof is the scroll-stopper that everything else has to beat.
  • Video storyboard system — A repeatable storyboard format for short-form video. Each board maps the hook, the treatment sequence, the result reveal, and the CTA — so the studio can produce consistent Reels and TikToks without starting from scratch every time. Hook testing built in from day one.
  • In-studio photography direction — Shot lists and direction briefs developed for on-site content sessions. Everex directs and shoots in-studio — capturing treatment action shots, studio atmosphere, and client experience moments that form the visual library no stock service can replicate.
  • Feed visual direction — Brand-consistent content templates and colour grading direction so every post reads as unmistakably Blissful Beauty. Warm gold tones, clean negative space, and editorial framing carry the same aesthetic as the website — every touchpoint, one brand.
  • Caption & copy system — Post copy written with dual purpose: accessibility (explaining the treatment, the experience, what to expect) and conversion (clear booking CTAs, link-in-bio, promotional hooks timed to seasonal demand peaks like summer and pre-event prep).
  • Profile setup & optimisation — Full setup across all three platforms: bio, link-in-bio configuration, branded highlight covers, pinned posts, and category/keyword optimisation for each platform's discovery algorithm.

Samarna came to us with a business card and a vision. The original brand was cobbled together — mismatched fonts, a clip-art illustration, no visual hierarchy. We built a complete identity from scratch: a custom logotype, a soft gradient palette, and a content system that carries the same aesthetic from the website through to every Instagram post.
